I have a 3 year old and here are the items that have been worth it to buy 10 times over.
a. My kid LOVES this thing. We have a cushioned mat set up in front our couch and we have his couch here. He will take a blanket and curl up here as I’m getting ready for work in the morning or take his snacks and cars and play here for hours. It’s also handy if you have smaller kids because it’s a boundary and it’s really fun and safe for them to crawl around on.

This thing has been showered with, left outside, drug around and it was a pretty inexpensive toy. He got this for Christmas and it's mid April and still being played with every single day.

I also like these larger ones but I notice my son gravitates to these more often. i enjoy playing with these as well!

At 3, my son doesn’t have the patience to lock these together but he loves to dump them out and use his bulldozers and excavators to play with them. They're also a lot of fun for me to play with so play time is fun for me.
5. Any excavator, dump truck, or crane truck toy . Large or small.
I can keep my kiddo entertained for a solid hour if I give him some oatmeal or rice on a pan while we’re inside and I need to cook or get something done. It’s a guaranteed hit. The only downside is we are vacuuming up the mess when he’s done . BUT pro- he loves to vacuum it up himself.

Other ‘toys’ that toddlers LOVE that you may already have or you can buy for parents for multi use.
water hose or sprinkler – most people have a hose but if you
Flashlights/headlamp – bonus points if we go outside after dark and look for frogs. He also loves just wearing his headlamp around .
Any tool – wrench , hammer, tape measure, etc. Definitely high level supervision with this but he is right under me if I am doing any work and it takes me 10x as long to get something done his self esteem is so high if I let him actually help while using a tool!

he loves tools of any kind Measuring cups/bread mixing – the kitchen has some of the funnest toys for a toddler. Measuring cups are a huge hit to pour from container to container and any sort of bread/muffin recipes are easy and fun for toddlers to help make
Air popcorn machine - my toddler and I love making popcorn together. it's way healthier than microwave and he gets to measure the kernels out and watch it pop into the bowl. it's one of our favorite family snacks with some melted butter and salt on it!
Long live toddlerhood. It is my favorite age yet for my kiddo!
