Horses update!

The good & fun updates:

Last week I rode the horses Tues-Thurs mornings before work! My plan is to carry this on every week and alternate Murphy/Carolina. I can’t explain to a person that doesn’t have a burning passion for horses what this does for me. All I want to do is ride horses. Be with horses. Research horses. It’s actually borderline insane (I just made a spreadsheet of my vet costs lol)

I mean just look at that. Riding a horse while watching the sun rise = 10/10

The stressful updates:

Skye needs antibiotics twice a day. And she just doesn’t look great still. Even with constant high quality hay and feeding twice a day. She constantly stresses me out.

She doesn't look bad condition wise but I'm not satisfied

Comet the little mini/pony? Coughed a few times while my friend had him out (he's her horse and not mine but still). I heard another cough this morning and couldn’t see who it was coming from.

The Carolina and Mabel (the new horse & mule I bought) did NOT like me mowing their pasture and literally just wiggled through the fence. (Note that I turn off the fence while I  mow so I don’t get shocked opening up the gates). So that meant all the horses were together. They acted like it was slumber party and were overjoyed after weeks of only being able to see each other to get to run around.

Besties already
Besties already

Whatever, I decided the cat was out of the bag just grabbed the tiny one and my friends horse out of the pasture and let my horses figure out the new herd dynamics.

It was just about the hottest day of the year so they honestly didn’t run too much. I threw some extra electrolytes in everyone's food and called it a day.

Things I need to do:

  • Have the annual vet appointment for my horses and the new horse (waiting on vet to respond to me)

  • Figure out a way to make feeding Skye twice a day easy

  • Get poop samples from all of them for a fecal test to see who needs wormed

  • Halter train Mabel the Mule

  • Saddle re-check on Murphy

  • Saddle fit Carolina

  • Figure out best bit for Carolina (after the vet does her teeth)

  • Buy some jumps!!

  • Mow (never ending mowing season)

Anyways, I try to keep this thought in my head that I will miss this season of life so I NEED TO ENJOY IT FULLY DANGIT. All my family is alive, safe, healthy and happy ,so thankful for this. But also I want everyone to know I’m still freaking exhausted. Like truly. The moments when I am riding my horses and I feel the exhilaration surging through me is what gives me energy back.

Happy life-ing !
