Well it’s been about 2 years and we are very excited about the updates coming next year. The farm is definitely looking better and next year is going to be chef’s kiss. More gravel, planting the pastures, an arena and implements for the tractors to make changing attachments easier.

Last week mr farmer finished up our barn doors and has started on the cows shelter for this winter. With our little calf we want him to be protected this winter.

I need to get a picture with the other door up, it looks so much better

We also made a trip and got more horse hay round bales. Getting hay and quality is a much more stressful and logistically taxing than I ever thought it would be before I brought my horses home.

Getting round bales is overall a million times better for the daily care of horses but man it’s a pain to message people, hook the truck up, strapped them down, gingerly drive home and unload/put away. Thank goodness mr farmer drove and strapped them down because I was seriously sweating thinking I was going to have to go alone.

It’s easy to get discouraged having land and animals because it’s just plain hard. Especially if you didn’t grow up in the lifestyle and having to learn best methods and you improve as the money comes in. It’s also not making us more money than we are putting in*. *I mean it does help our taxes but active income is wayyyy less than our mortgage each month lol.

how beautiful is our farm though. This time of year I feel the peace more clearly as we start to slow down

I love that our son will be so capable in a way you just can’t be if you grow up in the  suberbs. Driving a tractor, trailer by age 10. Building shelters by teenage years and the ability to learn animal husbandry for any animal he might grow up to be interested in. It’s all I ever wanted as a kid! I don’t want to push my dreams onto him; but I do believe learning the value of hard work when things are uncomfortable and the confidence to do these hard things are going to make a well rounded man. God willing.

last night. we unrolled most of the haybale so Skye won't get bullied off of it AND it helps plant our pasture with good grass seed from the hay! win-win.

Anyway, it’s Monday and back to normal work. Fall is here which means rest season is getting closer. Crisp weather is my jam. I hope everyone has joy in their heart and a hot cup of coffee today with snuggles of someone you love.
