How much land is too much for your homestead?

For me, it’s 20 acres. We had a 3 day weekend and we mowed every single day. And we still aren’t done.
Just take into fair account, how much work will your homestead need? What equipment do you need? Are you single or do you and your partner both work full time? Honestly I would not buy over 10 acres unless you plan to leave some of it fallow or raise hay or something SUPER low maintenance.

Add onto the projects that we want/need to make the place really functional and it’s just massively overwhelming to me with 20 acres.
I feel like I’m scrambling every day to just maintain and yet at the same time I feel like we are on the cusp on having a homestead that is beautiful and lush that provides us with income and self sufficiency.
But catch me just creeping on Zillow and realtor looking at less land.
I did get to ride Murphy once. We did have a good ride and I got 0 pictures of this .
Saturday night we camped out on the farm. The SO refused so he got to enjoy a quiet night inside watching a movie alone.
I didn’t get a picture in the tent because as you can imagine camping with a toddler and a dog is a lot of chaos. I do actually enjoy camping though and I hope to also pass that on to my kid! It’s such great, wholesome and cheap fun! Type 2 fun for sure but some of my favorite nights have been camping.

In an effort to make myself feel better about our farm here are the items we got knocked out this weekend:
· 75% of the mowing complete
· Wood for shelter and barn doors picked up
· Dirt picked up to complete raised beds
· Mower fixed for SO’s mom
· House chores
· Groceries ordered and meals prepped for the week
· Chicken coop torn down

Things that I really want done (all so important I don’t even know how to rank them):
· Room in barn complete so the barn can be organized and all the junk in the house that belongs in the barn will go out there
· Carport complete with wiring so front porch can be cleaned off of the stupid smokers/grills/tables
· Dense grade gravel patched in driveway
· Weed eating
· Spray the farm (the driveway, the fence rows, the RV parking spot)
· My strawberries planted + more veggies
There’s the brain dump. With working full time and trying to raise a human I am just feeling completely inept.
Happy Tuesday everyone may your vacation come soon. I am going to take some more days from work soon as I can tell I need it.
