Farm life

Have you ever had so much yet nothing happening in your life? That is where I am at. Lots of tiny steps for our goals but nothing notable.

SO needed to check the filter and not lose all the hydraulic fluid so this was his solution. Farm work is not OSHA certified

It was Easter this weekend so the SO and I both had 3 days weekends. Which was wonderful. And chaotic. But it is always a treat to be able to stay home and not drive into work so overall

Next weekend is Rolex aka the 3 day Land Rover event Aka both the 4* and 5*! There are only two 5 star events in the US, one is KY and one in Maryland.

One of these years I want to pack me and my kiddo up to go up to Maryland to watch. I really enjoy the northeast corner of the US especially in the fall when the Maryland 5* is.

I am so excited to go shop around all the vendors, see the horses and eat all the delicious food! I love being around the thousands of fellow equestrians it’s quite honestly the best. I’ve dragged my kid along every year to this event but this will be the first year my SO is venturing to go with us. I’m tempted to bring my dog as well but that feels just slightly too unhinged to bring my dog and toddler with us lol.

In other horse news, my farrier is out this week and Murphy's shoe is loose. I got to hop on him this weekend and at the end I could hear just a hint of a slop in his shoe.  

I feel so frustrated that I can’t seem to make more ride time and get us both fitted up and I keep reminding myself I am in a season.

It’s the tough part about a sport where it’s not just yourself. It’s a partnership and between the 2 of us-- we’ve had pulled/loose shoes to deal with, lack of time on my part and an unfortunate series of weather events lately. Bah.

I have no real other news to impart but I am excited to unveil the improvements on the farm this year we are working on every weekend. This is the year the farm is starting to pick up some momentum with how good it is looking!
