How to put in a t post by hand if you’re short

I'm 5'2 so believe me when I say I WERK when putting in the tall t posts. I don't love to use t posts but they do come in handy when sectioning off portions of the pasture we want to do rotational grazing or something I know isn't permanent

1.      Try to pick a time when the ground is not super hard or bring a 5 gallon bucket or water and pour a little in on each t post you put in. Crazy but it actually helps a lot

2.      Put the driver on top of the t post while its on the ground before you stand it up

3.      Don’t short stroke it

a.      Power is everything here use the full stroke of the driver

4.      Put the holders on for the line you’re using (I’m using everything from RAMM pro fence)

a. I also recommend putting the toppers on after driving this to protect animals /people as the tops are sharp and dangerous especially for horses

Tips:

  • Run a string from point A->B and it will make putting the t posts in line super easy so at the end you don’t have a way line

  • T posts come in lots of different lengths ,make sure to get a length tall enough for whatever animal you're trying to keep in/out

  • WEAR SAFETY GLASSES (& leather gloves)

    • tiny shards of metal will shave off the driver and can get in your eyes

    • leather gloves protect your hands (I still got blisters from this weekend on dry ground)

we ran a line of the actual fence material we were using to keep the fence straight...

Straight = tight = strong
