I finally got my doggy dna results back in !! I used Embark for his DNA results.

And turns out one of his parents seemed to be a purebred border collie who got their eye caught by a handsome mutt.

Without further adieu here they are:

He honestly got the best traits out of all of these breeds and none of the bad!

Border collies and australian shepherds are typically too high energy for me and the pure herding instinct is too strong. Border collies are also rated the most intelligent dog breed. and both australian shepherds and border collies are known to be great with people and very trainable.

Spaniels are really just too short and not pretty to me but they have wonderful temperaments and silky soft coats. German shepherds tend to have hip problems and a high drive to work but they are large, protective, extremely loyal and smart.

Together all of that made a perfect Winston - silky soft coat, a large size, extremely trainable, herding instinct without the nipping, very loyal, tall and smart.

He is SUPER trainable. He already came knowing a few commands so expanding on those since he is so eager to please is easy plus fun!!

The other day when I had passed out and the SO came in to get me he growled at my SO. Which honestly, I like. Winston is not aggressive in any way but knowing that he would protect me or my kiddo if the need arose is comforting. He is a perfect gentleman with strangers as well.

I have already started using him to hold the horses when I have an open gate or if my kiddo is outside with the horses. he knows here and wait and constatnly watches for his next command when he is working.

moody pic of Winston from last Friday during the rains

already this dog can go off leash, his recall is 10/10 and I sometimes use it if my kiddo is adventuring too far because my kid loves to follow Winston

ree

i love his little lip tuck up

knowing what dog breeds makes up my dogs always seems to put some puzzle pieces together for me to understand him better. It's one of the funnest part of adopting a mix breed.

ree

ok last 2 pictures because he is just too cute !

ree

always happy to go feed the horses with me.

10/10 going to get your own dog from the pound and see what interesting mix your dog is made up of!
